The Pottsville Rotary Club proudly presented the 2026 Henry “Hammer” Herring Scholarship to Ryliegh Sinko during its weekly meeting on Wednesday, April 15, held at Vito’s Coal Fired Pizza.
Ryliegh Sinko, the daughter of Jack and Maryrose Sinko of Minersville, is a second-year student at Penn State Schuylkill. She is pursuing a degree in Business with concentrations in Accounting, Management, and Marketing, along with a minor in Corporate Communication and a certificate in Sports Management. Her academic path reflects a strong passion for both mathematics and athletics, which she plans to combine in her future career. Following graduation, Sinko aspires to become a Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant or to pursue opportunities within collegiate or professional sports organizations.
A highly engaged student leader, Sinko maintains an impressive record of involvement both academically and extracurricularly. She is a member of the Honors Program and has earned Dean’s List recognition for all three semesters. On campus, she serves as President of Penn State Schuylkill Benefitting THON and is actively involved in FBLA, Lion Ambassadors, Blue and White Society, and Women in Leadership. In addition, she is a student-athlete on both the women’s volleyball and softball teams, works as a peer tutor and academic coach, and supports the athletic department through a work-study position, assisting with game day operations.
The Henry “Hammer” Herring Scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and a strong commitment to their community. Sinko expressed her gratitude during the presentation, noting that the scholarship will help alleviate financial burdens and allow her to focus more fully on her academic and professional development.
The Pottsville Rotary Club remains committed to supporting local students and investing in the future of the community through educational initiatives such as this scholarship program.
