Merakey Behavioral Health

On March 11, the Pottsville Rotary Club welcomed Jennifer Kramer of Merakey Behavioral Health, who presented an overview of the organization’s services and its impact on the local community. Merakey is a national provider of developmental, behavioral health, and educational services, with a local office located at One Norwegian Plaza in Pottsville.

Kramer highlighted several programs available in the region. The Pottsville office provides outpatient counseling services for both children and adults, offering support for individuals dealing with a variety of behavioral health challenges.

Merakey also operates transitional housing programs at several local locations, currently serving approximately 40 clients. In addition, residential housing in Pine Grove provides a structured living environment for nine residents with 24/7 staff support. Clients may stay in the program for several months or up to two years, with the average stay around 18 months. The goal of these housing programs is to help individuals stabilize and successfully reintegrate into the community.

Another important initiative is the Adult Certified Peer Specialist Program, which trains individuals who have recovered from behavioral health challenges to serve as peer counselors for others in need of support. The local office currently has two certified peer specialists providing these services.

Referrals to Merakey programs often come from hospitals, physicians, and partner agencies.

The Club thanks Jennifer Kramer for an informative and meaningful presentation about the valuable resources available in our community.
