Service Above Self.

Members of the Rotary Club of Pottsville have been volunteering to make our community better since the club's founding in 1915.

We meet every Wednesday at 12:15 p.m. at Vito's Coal-Fired Restaurant in St. Clair, Pa.

Pottsville Rotary in Our Community.

The Pottsville Rotary Club is involved in several recurring community events and activities, including both fundraisers and youth/community recognition programs.

Pottsville Rotary Hops, Vine & Dine

Pottsville Rotary Hops, Vine & Dine is an annual food, beer, and wine tasting benefit event hosted by the Rotary Club of Pottsville at the Barefield Recreation Complex in Pottsville, PA. Guests sample food, desserts, beer, and wine from a range of local restaurants, caterers, bakeries, wineries, and breweries while also participating in a small auction with items like sports memorabilia, gift baskets, and gift cards.

The event serves as a fundraiser, with recent years’ proceeds supporting groups such as the Pottsville Fire Department, Servants to All, Nativity Preservation Support Foundation/Green & Gold, Gabriel Chamber Ensemble, Majestic Theater, and other local causes.

Pottsville Rotary Supports Area Students

The Pottsville Rotary supports students mainly through recognition programs, scholarships, and youth leadership/service opportunities.

Recognition Programs

Monthly “Students of the Month” from Pottsville Area, Minersville Area, and Nativity BVM High Schools are honored at club meetings for leadership, academics, and service. These recognitions highlight student achievements publicly and connect them with local business and community leaders

Scholarships

The club presents several named scholarships each year, including the William Joseph Parulis Scholarship, the Henry R. Fick Scholarship, and the William Davidson Scholarship. Scholarships go to local high school seniors pursuing further education, helping offset college or postsecondary training costs.

Interact Clubs

Rotary sponsors Interact clubs for Nativity and Minersville Area students ages 12–18, giving them a structured way to do community service, develop leadership, and connect with Rotarians. Local Interact projects include student-run food pantries, food and coat drives, and campus clean‑ups that directly support classmates and the wider community.

Pottsville Rotary Hands on Service Projects

Pottsville Rotary members volunteer in many hands‑on ways to support veterans, enhance public spaces, and strengthen local human‑service organizations throughout the year. These projects include:

The Schuylkill United Way’s Captain Jason B. Jones Memorial Day of Caring

This is a one‑day countywide service event held each May that sends volunteer teams to parks, municipalities, schools, libraries, nursing homes, and partner agencies for hands‑on tasks like painting, cleaning, and yard work.- Pottsville Rotary participates as one of the civic groups providing volunteers, so members typically join a team assigned to a project site and spend the day doing physical work such as landscaping, cleanup, and light maintenance to support local nonprofits and public spaces.

Salvation Army Bell Ringing

The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle bell‑ringing campaign relies on local volunteers to staff kettles outside stores to raise money for community programs. Pottsville Rotary members sign up for shifts as bell ringers with the Pottsville Corps Community Center, taking turns at local kettle locations so donations can support food, housing, and other services in Schuylkill County.

SKIP cleanup

SKIP (Schuylkill Keep It Pretty) organizes litter‑cleanup and beautification projects throughout Schuylkill County. Pottsville Rotary’s involvement typically looks like a work crew: members put on safety vests, pick up trash along assigned stretches, and help with general beautification to keep local communities and gateways looking presentable.

Wreaths Across America

Wreaths Across America is a national program that coordinates volunteers to place evergreen wreaths on veterans’ graves each December. Local Rotary members join thousands of volunteers to unload wreaths, carry them into the cemetery, place them on individual graves while reading the veteran’s name, and then return in January to help remove the wreaths so the grounds stay tidy.

Fort Indiantown Gap flag replacing

At Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, the Avenue of Flags program displays over 300 donated casket flags, plus state and service flags, along the cemetery lanes from early May through Veterans Day. Pottsville Rotary members visit on assigned weekends to check each flag and replace any that are faded, torn, or otherwise unserviceable so the display remains respectful and in good condition.
